Not My Business: Actress Rashida Jones apologises to John Travolta on Twitter for urging him to 'come out'

ACTRESS Rashida Jones has apologised to John Travolta via Twitter after urging the actor to 'come out'. The 36-year-old Parks and Recreation star, who is the youngest daughter of music producer Quincy Jones, made the shock comments while promoting her film Celeste and Jesse Forever during an interview with website Spinning Platters. When her co-star and co-writer, Will McCormack, said in the interview, “There needs to be, like, a professional athlete that comes out,” Jones jumped in with: "and a movie star! Like John Travolta! Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let’s do this." Travolta was sued earlier this year by two male massage therapists who claimed the actor tried to have sex with them during massage sessions. Travolta’s publicist called the suits “complete fiction and fabrication” and the two masseurs later dropped their complaints. Yesterday Jones used her Twitter account to express her regret about her remarks: Rashida Jones @iamrashidajones Made a thoughtless comment about John Travolta. I sincerely apologize. Nobody's personal life is my business. But the apology immediately sparked debate on the social media site about whether Jones had been right to say sorry. The actress made the comments while proclaiming her admiration for rapper Frank Ocean, who recently revealed he was gay. “It was a bold thing to say, but it was coming from a good place,” Spinning Platters writer Jason LeRoy told America's ABCNews.com. "It was within the context of a conversation about how empowering it was when Frank Ocean came out.”
