Over Exaggerated: Kristen Stewart Not Dropped From 'Snow White' Sequel

Reports of Kristen Stewart being dropped from a proposed "Snow White and the Huntsman" sequel have been greatly exaggerated. 'Snow White And The Huntsman': Behind The Costume Design Universal co-chair Donna Langley issued a statement to MTV News on Wednesday (August 15) confirming that no such action had been taken. "We are extremely proud of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' and we're currently exploring all options to continue the franchise," she said. "Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false." The statement follows a story published Tuesday by The Hollywood Reporter, which intimated that the fairy-tale film's follow-up would be reconceived as a spin-off, focusing largely on the Huntsman character played by Chris Hemsworth. Though the trade magazine made mention of Stewart's affair with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, the report also noted that "it is not clear why the decision to move forward without Stewart was made." It is not known whether Sanders will return to direct the sequel. The first film, co-starring Charlize Theron and Sam Claflin, has grossed $389.28 million worldwide. When MTV News caught up with Stewart in May for "MTV First: Snow White and the Huntsman," the actress made it clear that portraying the titular princess stuck a nerve. "She's got very little life experience. She feels such strong things and can't say exactly why she feels those things, and I can completely relate to that," Stewart said. "I was excited to see the growth of this person. She's such a child in the beginning and has such a strong sense of self in a way that isn't normal. It's almost supernatural. She's got this connection to the earth and to her people that makes her so empathetic. She's truly bleeding for other people. It's something I want to get to, if I can.
