Was It Time: 'Malcolm X' actor Albert Freeman Jr dies, aged 78

Albert Freeman Jr has died, aged 78. The American actor and director was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad in Spike Lee's 1992 film Malcolm X
Washington DC's Howard University confirmed that Freeman Jr had died on Friday (August 10), but the exact cause has yet to be released. Freeman had taught acting at the university for several years, and was also chairman and artistic director of theatre arts. He won an NAACP Image Award for 'Outstanding Supporting Actor' for Malcolm X. Freeman had appeared in many television shows, including playing Captain Ed Hall in the soap opera One Life to Life from 1972 to 1987. He was awarded with a Daytime Emmy for 'Outstanding Lead Actor' for the role. The actor also appeared in episodes of Law and Order, The Cosby Show, Kojak, the TV film My Sweet Charlie and the movie Finian's Rainbow
