Revealed: Jodi Gordon's $50,000 wedding dress

IT was described as Australia's wedding of the year, and Jodi Gordon's wedding dress may well be the gown of the year too. The 27-year-old married rugby league champion Braith Anasta in a custom made J'Aton gown, which is revealed in this week's Woman's Day. The duo behind J'Aton told news.com.au's entertainment-editor-at-large, Melissa Hoyer, that Gordon’s ornate dress took a team of five people 6 months and 300 hours to create. "It was not Jodi doing ‘red carpet’ so we didn’t want loud colours and drama as it had to be soft romantic and significant and that is what we love about the dress, that it had no bling factor to it," the designers told Hoyer. "The dress for us had to have a sense of simplicity without just being plain and boring as Jodi did all along want a dream dress and not just something she could buy off the rack." The dress is estimated to have cost around $50,000 and includes 80-year-old vintage lace from Paris, silk muslin and organdie with Italian tulle. Swarovski and vintage beads that were "very old and rare finds" were also used. The pair, who have been dating for three years, tied the knot in a lavish Balinese ceremony in front of 120 guests. The groom wore a blue suit in contrast to the groomsmen and bridesmaid's silver pallete. “I think Braith looked a bit like he was channelling George Clooney in his blue suit,” giggled Jodi, who recruited stylist to the stars Kelly Smythe to help her select the bridal party’s wardrobe.
