Can't SING: Nicki Minaj loses voice after pair of free New York concerts

Nicki Minaj has been taken ill after performing two free concerts in New York despite a bruised vocal cord. The 'Starships' rapper was recently advised by doctors to take two weeks of rest for her voice after finishing her North American tour.

Minaj insisted on performing two free shows on Tuesday (August 14) despite advice from her physicians because she was determined not to disappoint fans, according to WENN. Along with a live television performance at Rockefeller Plaza, Minaj also provided an evening show for fans at the Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan. She revealed via her Twitter account today (August 15) that she has now lost her voice thanks to her rigorous performance schedule. Minaj wrote: "It's official, my voice is GONE! I swear it held up just to spk to uguys last nite! Mind over matter. The mind is so powerful… It was all worth it for what I experienced w/u guys last night tho. Wouldn't change a thing (sic)."
