Simply Smashing: One Direction's new single is Live While We're Young
LET the screams begin - OMG, 1D are back.
British boy band One Direction have melted social media sites with their announcement of imminent teen anthem Live While We're Young.
Harry, Louis, Zayn, Niall and Liam took to Facebook to provoke a sonic boom of hysteria with the revelation they will release the new single on September 30, with the as-yet-untitled second album following in November. Just in time for Christmas, if the girls can wait that long.
The single was written by Swedish hitmakers Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk and Savan Kotecha who created the Fab Five's first chartbusters One Thing and What Makes You Beautiful.
Other go-to songwriters and producers tapped to contribute to 1D's all-important second record include Ed Sheeran and McFlys Tom Fletcher, Dr Luke, Taio Cruz, Shellback and Toby Gad.
Their debut record Up All Night has sold 12 million copies worldwide and remains in the upper echelons of the Australian charts after 37 weeks.
One Direction have more than 358 million YouTube views, 24 million followers on Twitter and 8.9 million followers on Facebook.
The music video for What Makes You Beautiful alone has more than 215 million views.
1D have also sold out their Australian tour in September 2013 with a record waiting list of fans desperately hoping that some ticket holders may be more fickle in their allegiance to the pop princes.
